Technology can only be life-changing if people know how to use it. The Design and Technology programme gives students an introduction on how things work. Students investigate how well familiar products and objects function, and who these products are really aimed at. By answering questions such as “Is this the right tool for the job?”, they learn how to solve practical problems using their creative imagination.

Children are taught to:

• See how products work and how they are used.
• Create and run basic focus groups.
• Practise practical skills and tasks, such as cutting, joining, fixing and connecting.
• Design, create and test their own products, using familiar materials such as card, textiles, food, moldable materials, electrical and mechanical parts, and what they have learned in class.
