Whether regular exercise is swimming or a Sunday afternoon kick-around, keeping fit is important. Yew Chung International School of Shanghai's Physical Education (PE) programme shows students that it's fun to stay in shape.

Whether regular exercise is swimming or a Sunday afternoon kick-around, keeping fit is important. Yew Chung International School of Shanghai's Physical Education (PE) programme shows students that it's fun to stay in shape. They learn everything from how the body works, to what foods and exercise are good for the body and the rules and techniques of sports. All in the hope they understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

In PE lessons, children participate in outdoor and indoor activities like dance, games, gymnastics, athletics, swimming, and much more. Children learn how to use their physical and mental skills for different purposes - for example, learning to communicate and work as a team or by pushing their body to its maximum potential. Students start their PE by playing adapted versions of adult games such as hockey, cricket or netball, and as their confidence grows, they learn to improve their performance and are encouraged to pursue the physical activity they enjoy most.
