The Christmas Season at YCIS Shanghai, Pudong Campus was full of festivities and displays of talent. It all began on December 4 with caroling and cookies in the courtyard of the Regency Park Campus for ECE's Season of Celebrations. This event was a great warm-up for the three following Christmas Concerts presented by our Primary and Secondary students.
On December 11, parents were delighted and entertained by the innocence and enthusiasm of our Year 1 students who presented a Nativity play written by YCISs Director of Music, Gary Sanderson.
On December 14, it was the students from Years 4-11 to present their concert. The night was impressive and the students performed a diverse range of musical items including: a short drama; songs in a variety of languages; startling performances from the new Primary choirs; Year 7 and 9 student compositions; a violin and piano Tango duet; Year 8 jingling percussion instruments and of course a melodious and lively display from Pudong's ever growing orchestra of 50 students. The Year 11 Ambassadors were comperes for this evening, truly making the event a student centred presentation.
On December 15, parents were uplifted by the energetic singing of the Year 2-3 students who presented a Christmas play written by YCIS Shanghai, Pudong Campus Key Stage Three Leader, Amanda Greenslade. The evening then finished with the Boogie Band accompanying many parents and students as they stood on the stage together and sang Silent Night in their native languages to create a very special and international moment.
All of these events demonstrated the expansion and growing high quality of the work produced in Pudong. The performers should all be congratulated on such a wonderful end to the semester.
