The Design and Technology programme gives students an introduction to how things work.
Technology can only be life-changing if people know how to use it. The Design and Technology programme gives students an introduction to how things work. Students investigate how well familiar products and objects function, and who these products are really aimed at. By answering questions such as "Is this the right tool for the job?" they learn how to solve practical problems using their creative imagination.
Students will learn how to:
- Understand how products work and how they are used;
- Create and run basic focus groups;
- Practise practical skills and tasks, such as cutting, joining, fixing and connecting;
- Design, create and test their own products, using familiar materials such as card, textiles, food, moldable materials, electrical and mechanical parts, and the skills they have learned in class.
