Our dynamic athletics programme, which is developmentally appropriate for each age group, is an essential part of the YCIS experience. It starts with structured playtime in Kindergarten, and later with recess, Physical Education (PE) classes, and optional extra-curricular sports activities in Primary and Secondary.
Secondary Teacher Mr Holroyd about Soccer at YCIS:
From the upper years of Primary onwards, students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of sports programmes, including inter-house and inter-school competitions. Our athletics programme includes:
- Field Hockey
- Track and Field
- Cross Country
- Table Tennis
From Years 7 to 9, students are able to participate in weekly competitions in a selection of sports through the China International Schools Sports Association (CISSA) programmes. Students from Years 10 to 13 are able to compete against other international schools that are members of the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS) and the Shanghai International Schools Activities Conference (SISAC) in three core competitive sports: volleyball, basketball, and soccer.
YCIS Shanghai students enjoy participating in sports, and have had great success in their efforts. For more about our recent sports victories and champions, please click here.
