    Summer Comes Early at Century Park Campus' 2018 Summer Programmes Fair

    On Tuesday, February 6, 2018, YCIS Century Park held its second annual Summer Programmes Fair. This event, organized by the campus’ University Guidance Counselor, Mr Timothy Gartz, provided Year 9-12 students with the opportunity to learn about 26 summer programme options in academic preparation, career development, service, culture, and high adventure.

    With both local and international choices, these programmes offer a wealth of opportunity for our students: everything from improving academics here in Shanghai to exploring the cultures of Japan, or discovering the best of Australia or Hawaii, students can make choices that suit themselves best. For example, if someone is more interested in career exploration and skill development, they could choose to attend the programme offered by the University of California at Berkeley’s Haas Business School (BBAY), or the Carl Benz School of Engineering, which offers programmes in Europe and Suzhou, and whose representatives came all the way from Germany to meet the Century Park Campus students.

    Scientists-in-Residence Share Their Love of Science at Regency Park Campus

    Last week, students at YCIS Shanghai’s Regency Park Campus were excited to have a visit from Hong Kong-based scientists, Dr Choi Siu Wai and Mr Cyrus Ho. Dr Choi and Mr Ho work with the Yew Chung Foundation as Scientists-in-Residence, sharing their love of Science with schools throughout the YCIS network. Dr Choi and Mr Ho came to work with some of the older Primary children, in Years 5 and 6, and some of the school’s youngest children, in K4. This was a great opportunity for our students to get ‘hands-on’ with practical Science, complementing the work done as part of the unique YCIS curriculum.

    New YCIS Ronghua Campus Receives Prestigious Award

    It was a first for schools in Shanghai on January 17, as Yew Chung International School of Shanghai’s (YCIS) new Ronghua Campus was awarded the prestigious ‘Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design’ (LEED) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). During a ceremony at the new campus, the school received the award from Mr Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO of USGBC, making YCIS the very first school in Shanghai to ever earn a LEED certification.

    YCIS Music Students Light Up the Bund

    On Tuesday, November 28, students in the YCIS Shanghai Gubei Campus Upper Secondary String Ensemble and Select Choir put on a spectacular performance at the Bund Financial Center Christmas Tree Lighting.

    The group were the only international school students selected to appear at this prestigious inaugural tree lighting at the brand new development situated on the Bund, the celebrated waterfront on the Puxi side of Shanghai.
