Out of over 100 international schools in China, YCIS Shanghai is one of only five international schools to hold the prestigious joint accreditations through Council of International Schools (CIS), New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and National Centre for School Curriculum and Textbook Development (NCCT).
Accreditation is a long process that takes a minimum of three years of review in order to meet compliance on international education standards of:
- Philosophy and Objectives
- Governance and Management
- Student Support Services
- Student and Community Life
As an accredited school YCIS Shanghai joins a prestigious and growing network of institutions worldwide which are dedicated to providing high quality education in an international context.
CIS - The Council of International Schools is the premier organisation in international education for the accreditation of schools and best practice development. CIS is a not-for-profit organisation of a truly worldwide international educational community comprising over 650 member schools and 450 colleges/universities. Website www.cois.org
NEASC - The New England Association of Schools and Colleges provides accreditation services for more than 2,000 public and private institutions from pre-kindergarten through university. NEASC consists of six commissions, each of which sets the standards for a particular segment of the educational community. Website www.neasc.org
NCCT – The National Centre for School Curriculum and Textbook Development is so far the only accreditation-related agency approved by the Ministry of Education, and it is the only Chinese agency providing school accreditation in the mainland of China. NCCT is engaged in nation-wide study, development and assessment of school curricula, textbooks and related professional work.
