Students Busy at Math Bee
The campus buzzed with excitement as Year 7 students attended the first ever YCIS Shanghai Math Bee on December 7. All 23 contestants showed maturity, bravery, and composure while being challenged to answer mental math questions over 3 rounds.
Performance Evening Channels Diversity and Talents
Each year, YCIS Shanghai, Pudong, Regency Park Campus presents a Performance Evening specifically to celebrate and showcase students’ talents. This year, Century Park Campus followed the tradition and hosted its Performance Evening, offering students an opportunity to go through a competitive audition process that qualified select individuals to share their skills with the community.
National Merit Scholarship Nomination
The greatest gift to an educator is to see students mature in mind and attitude, and even more humbling is when that progress is acknowledged by others. This year sees the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) commending three Year 13 IB students for their performance on the American Preliminary SAT (PSAT)--evidence of the YCIS Shanghai faculty’s commitment to educating academically savvy students.
Record IGCSE Results for YCIS Shanghai Students
While examination scores are but one measure of students’ success, YCIS Shanghai is proud to note its students’ best performance to date in IGCSE examinations.
Fantastic IB Results at YCIS Shanghai
IB students at YCIS Shanghai have 100 per cent pass rate for the full diploma this year. About the results, Daun Yorke, the IB Co-ordinator remarked, “I am over the moon about the IB results; it has been a tremendous year for our students! Of the 41 students who sat the full diploma, 41 passed. This 100 per cent pass record is a fantastic achievement, and it is a celebratory day for everyone.”
YCIS-funded School in Sichuan Completed
Following the aftermath of the Sichuan earthquake, rebuilding schools in the affected area has become a top priority for the Yew Chung International School (YCIS) community.
Sweeping Victory at Math Olympiad
YCIS students swept all first place standings for all divisions at the 2009 Mathematics Olympiad organised by the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS) (www.acamis.org). The victory adds to our championships of previous years in various competitions, and establishes YCIS Shanghai, Puxi as THE school to beat.
