YCIS Shanghai Accreditation Reaffirmed
Five years ago, YCIS Shanghai was selected by the National Center for Curriculum and Textbook Development (NCCT) to serve as the pilot project for the new China joint accreditation project along with the worldwide Council of International Schools (CIS), the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). This required a Preliminary Visit, then a full year of Self-Study followed by a visit from a team of 15 experts, five from each agency to verify the Self-Study and make recommendations and commendations. Following that visit, YCIS Shanghai was fully accredited by all three agencies and received many commendations for quality education.

Czech Republic and Poland World Classroom Trip 2011
Czech people are the nicest people you will ever meet. They are really warm and helpful. Although their English is not always fluent, they will still try their very best to communicate with you. On several occasions, we got the chance to meet some Czech secondary students. It was really special to share stories and learn about each other’s culture. The students we met were extremely down to earth, despite the fact that they looked a bit intimidating at first. Once you got to know them, they were the warmest and some of the funniest people ever!
Scholars Deliver Win in South Korea
This year YCIS Shanghai Pudong sent a group of seven students to participate in the World Scholar’s Cup tournament in Seoul, South Korea. Building on the their success from last year’s competitions in Beijing and Shanghai, the YCIS Shanghai teams studied materials relating to the theme of “A World Transformed”, including topics such as biotechnology, modern cities and the arts. Our teams returned to Shanghai winning top prizes in several categories, including best overall student and best writing team. The latter team came a very close second in the competition as the best overall team, narrowly missing out on the top prize to the host school, Korea International School.
