  • New State-of-the-Art Campus for YCIS Shanghai

    Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS) is delighted to announce the addition of a beautiful new campus this school year. Located in close proximity to the school’s Hongqiao and Gubei campuses in Puxi, the new YCIS Ronghua Campus will open for Early Childhood and Year 1 – 2 students in February 2018. The purpose-built campus has been designed by the award-winning architectural firm, Fielding Nair International (FNI), the global leader in educational facilities planning and architectural design.

  • A Busy Summer of Facility Improvements at YCIS Shanghai

    Over the summer months, the school supporting division was hard at work on a number of renovation projects on all four campuses, with the last bit of polishing complete just before the start of the school year.   At the Century Park Campus, students are sure to be delighted by the new playground equipment that was installed, including a zip line and climbing frames. In addition, outside reading zones were created for the school entrance courtyard. The Design and Technology room was completely redesigned to benefit our budding engineers and designers, with a much brighter space for their ingenuity and creativity.

    It was bittersweet for YCIS Shanghai recently as the faculty, staff, and students bid a fond farewell to the graduating classes at both the Century Park and Gubei campuses. Both campuses held graduation ceremonies to celebrate the “Class of 2017” before they headed off to continue their education at a number of prestigious institutions around the world.

  • An Underwater Adventure for Year 2 Students

    Lately, Year 2 students at the Hongqiao Campus have been deeply involved in learning about various habitats and ecosystems in their classes. To enhance their experience of learning, the children were recently treated to a marvellous excursion to the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium in Pudong!

    Year 1 and Year 4 students have been engaged this month in an extraordinary charitable project called "Solar Buddy", which connects YCIS students with children in developing areas of Ethiopia by building and supplying them with solar powered lights.

  • YCIS Students Win Above Their Year Levels in Science Competition

    Recently, 16 YCIS students competed in the Shanghai HighFour Maths and Science Contest. HighFour Competitions™ organises tournaments for international school students from a number of grade levels to participate in competitions within various subjects. During the competitions, students form into teams of four and answer 20 questions in the given 30 minutes.

  • Cultural Days Create Interesting Lessons

    Year 3 and Year 4 students at the YCIS Hongqiao Campus enjoyed fun-filled cultural theme days recently to celebrate the learning they have been doing in class. Students and teachers alike dressed in full Roman theme costumes (Year 3) and in ancient Egyptian regalia (Year 4) and completed various activities designed to help them learn more about these Ancient Civilisations.

  • Explosions, Slime, and Much More: Gubei Science Fair Offers Fun for Families

    Classrooms were packed to the hilt recently as families attended the Gubei Campus Science Fair evening to take part in some fun and fascinating science experiments. Primary and Secondary students and their families were treated to an impressive display of interactive demonstrations that showcased the strength of the YCIS science department, with classrooms playing host to different themes, including Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
