Cultural Days Create Interesting Lessons
Year 3 and Year 4 students at the YCIS Hongqiao Campus enjoyed fun-filled cultural theme days recently to celebrate the learning they have been doing in class. Students and teachers alike dressed in full Roman theme costumes (Year 3) and in ancient Egyptian regalia (Year 4) and completed various activities designed to help them learn more about these Ancient Civilisations.
Explosions, Slime, and Much More: Gubei Science Fair Offers Fun for Families
Classrooms were packed to the hilt recently as families attended the Gubei Campus Science Fair evening to take part in some fun and fascinating science experiments. Primary and Secondary students and their families were treated to an impressive display of interactive demonstrations that showcased the strength of the YCIS science department, with classrooms playing host to different themes, including Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.

Students Raise More Than RMB 50,000 for Cancer Hospice
Recently, students at the Century Park Campus organised an impressive charity “fun run”. This was the third annual Make a Difference (MAD) run, which was inspired by the well known Terry Fox charity run, which aims to raise awareness and funds for cancer charities.
Books, Pyjamas, World Author Visits and More!
Students, teachers, and parents alike had an amazing time celebrating the joy of reading during the annual Regency Park Book Week. Activities during the week included a visit from a celebrated author, a parent-led story time, a book fair, and “buddy reading”.
YCIS Becomes Official Charter Organisation of Boy Scouts of America
At YCIS Shanghai, supporting the community is an important part of the school’s philosophy and mission, and through various partnerships, the school is able to provide additional, extra-curricular programmes for YCIS children and families. One such example is the Boy Scouts of America programme, and this year, YCIS Shanghai has become the official Charter Organisation for the Boy Scouts of America in Puxi. As the Charter Organisation, the school provides equipment and supplies, as well as staff support for logistics and administration, and hosts weekly and monthly meetings for the Troop 12 Boy Scouts and the Pack 12 Cub Scouts.
7th Annual Seeds of Hope Gala Charity Concert
Recently, YCIS Shanghai joined together with other Yew Chung and Yew Wah schools from around the world to perform at the 7th annual Seeds of Hope Gala Charity Concert. Held at the Shanghai Oriental Performing Arts Centre, the concert brought together students and faculty from the school’s entire network to support the Seeds of Hope charity.
YCIS Robotics Club Takes First Prize in Design at Competition
Recently, the YCIS Robotics Club competed for the first time ever in a city-wide competition for international school students. Under the guidance of Mr Kleber Quevedo, a YCIS Secondary Computer Science teacher, the students surprised competitors by winning the first-place prize in robotics design.
Lower Secondary Students Visit Shanghai Biennale
Year 7 and Year 9 students recently had the opportunity to venture outside the classroom to visit the mammoth 11th Annual Shanghai Biennale Art Exhibition, titled, “Why Not Ask Again”, which featured 102 separate exhibitions within the Power Station of Art complex in the former Puxi-Side Expo area.
