Student Focus: Anna in Y13, YCIS Century Park Campus
Anna is in her very last year at YCIS. She began her YCIS journey in Beijing as a Year 1 student and moved to Shanghai for Year 2. She finished her primary years at the Regency Park Campus and moved to the Century Park Campus where she will say farewell to YCIS in May of 2018. Anna’s years at YCIS have been fruitful.
New York University Shanghai Collaboration with YCIS
Effective communication is always essential for success as teachers. On November 3, YCIS Shanghai’s Century Park Campus welcomed 13 Chinese teachers from New York University Shanghai, who attended six Chinese lessons to learn how the teachers at YCIS use technology and new pedagogies in Chinese classes. Later, the teachers exchanged ideas on the common questions that occur in daily teaching.
Century Park Campus Hosts Cambridge Learner Awards Ceremony
On Thursday, October 26, Yew Chung International School of Shanghai’s(YCIS) Century Park Campus hosted the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards Ceremony. Ms Janet Morris, Director of the International Network of Cambridge Assessment International, spoke on behalf of the organisation to recognise the exceptional young men and women receiving awards for their fantastic results on the Cambridge IGCSE examinations.
The 2017 POP Picnic and Bazaar - Another Fun Day at YCIS Shanghai
The YCIS Parents Organisation Pudong (POP) recently arranged another massively successful event for the school community with their 2017 ‘POP Picnic and Bazaar’, held at the Regency Park Campus. The fun-filled day offered a number of activities for children, including sports games, a petting zoo, face painting, and much more, and children and their parents also enjoyed the spectacular stage entertainment throughout the day, including a drum performance to start off the event by the incredible Japanese taiko drumming group, Wakio. The always-popular “Dunk Tank” was back for more fun this year, with faculty and staff members getting soaked more than once!
Class of 2007 Celebrate 10 Year Mini-Reunion at YCIS Shanghai
The YCIS Gubei Campus community was thrilled to welcome back members of the Class of 2007 for their ten-year reunion recently. With any international school alumni group, organising reunions can be challenging due to the wide dispersal of students after graduation, but graduates from the Class of 2007 coordinated with one another to make the trip back to Shanghai to catch up with their classmates and teachers.
Celebrating Founder’s Day and the Yew Chung 85th Anniversary
October 13th was a very special day at Yew Chung campuses worldwide as the school celebrated its 85th Anniversary during the annual ‘Founder’s Day’ event. The Founder’s Day is an important part of the YCIS calendar, with a day full of activities for students as well as reflection and appreciation for the establishment of the school by Madam Tsang Chor-hang in 1932 in Hong Kong.
Another Year of Excellent IGCSE Examination Results for 2017
Congratulations to our current Year 12 students on the results of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations they sat in May and June of this year. The results were just announced, and our students have once again achieved extraordinary marks!
New State-of-the-Art Campus for YCIS Shanghai
Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS) is delighted to announce the addition of a beautiful new campus this school year. Located in close proximity to the school’s Hongqiao and Gubei campuses in Puxi, the new YCIS Ronghua Campus will open for Early Childhood and Year 1 – 2 students in February 2018. The purpose-built campus has been designed by the award-winning architectural firm, Fielding Nair International (FNI), the global leader in educational facilities planning and architectural design.
A Busy Summer of Facility Improvements at YCIS Shanghai
Over the summer months, the school supporting division was hard at work on a number of renovation projects on all four campuses, with the last bit of polishing complete just before the start of the school year. At the Century Park Campus, students are sure to be delighted by the new playground equipment that was installed, including a zip line and climbing frames. In addition, outside reading zones were created for the school entrance courtyard. The Design and Technology room was completely redesigned to benefit our budding engineers and designers, with a much brighter space for their ingenuity and creativity.
