The YCIS Admissions Team looks forward to providing you with friendly, efficient service, and a smooth admissions process when you enquire or apply to our Kindergarten, Primary, or Secondary Programmes.
We welcome applications from eligible students of all nationalities, cultures, and educational and language backgrounds who share and support the YCIS philosophy, objectives, and values that shape our community.
To be eligible to apply to an international school, families must submit foreign identification and other documents that meet the regulations of the local government. For detailed questions about eligibility, please contact Admissions directly.
Year level and programme placement of students at YCIS is based on several factors, including academic performance, English language proficiency, skills development, prior years of schooling, social development, date of birth, and learning needs.
In addition to a review of previous school records, admissions assessments may also include a one-on-one meeting or interview, a written placement test, an external assessment (for children with significant learning needs), and/or an online English language evaluation. Following assessment, the school will make the final decision regarding the appropriate year level and programme for each child.
When assessing applications and arranging classes, our aim is to sustain a multicultural environment and balanced student community.
We believe that students admitted to YCIS will positively benefit from the educational programmes we provide. Therefore, students must be able to access the regular curriculum without the need for services beyond our Learning Support Programme.
When a year level becomes full, the school will maintain a waiting pool of applicants. Children with enrolled siblings at YCIS receive priority in the admissions process.
YCIS Network of Schools – Internal Transfer
All YCIS schools operate under the same educational philosophy, pedagogy, and curriculum. As it is quite common for expatriate families to be relocated around China in particular, we make it very convenient for enrolled students to transfer (without application fee or extensive paperwork) to any school in our network that includes Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, and Qingdao (in China), and Silicon Valley (in the US).
These internal transfer applicants need to meet the admissions requirements of the local government, and may be re-assessed for placement.
