How Have I Responded to My New Leadership Role?

    • A couple of months ago, I was appointed Student Council Co-President, and I must admit it was an incredibly alienexperience for me. Our first big event was the ‘Valentine’s Day Card Delivery’, which required a lot of planning and organisation. We had to consider the card system, gain approval from staff, order the supplies, and promote the event. It was overwhelming for me at first, as this required a lot of new responsibilities that I had to shoulder. However, this sense of stress helped put everything into perspective, and it showed me that events are much harder to host than people think they will be. Initially, it was slightly unsteady, but we still managed to pull it off, and I’m happy that it turned out rather successful.

Nowadays, the planning and organisation parts of hosting events is much more routine, and we are far more efficient than we were before. Yet, even though everything generally goes smoothly, it still is a very challenging task.

I love this role, and I have a lot of passion for the Student Council. Being the Co-President is not just a job for me – it is something that I genuinely love to do. There are many ideas and goals that I would like to achieve, and I want to leave a positive impact on the school, even after my term ends. Perhaps I am a bit too ambitious, but that does not mean I will not try my best to be the ideal student that the Student Council needs me to be.
