A long-lasting home-school relationship is the bedrock of our principles and practices. When educators and parents work together, there is nothing our students cannot achieve.
At YCIS Shanghai, we believe it is greatly beneficial to students' academic and social success for the entire family to be a part of their child's school life.
This is why we work hand-in-hand with families to foster their child's healthy development and successful education. Parents can participate in their child's school life through an open and regular line of communication with our teachers, and they are encouraged to become involved in a wide range of events and activities in the school community.
We pride ourselves on the close-knit community we offer our students and families. We employ a full-time Parent Relations Officer who liaises between parents, the community, and the school's administration and works closely with parent groups on campus, including the Parent Organisations of Puxi and Pudong (POP).
POP is an integral piece of the YCIS community and is made up of volunteer parents who, with support from staff representatives, work together for the well-being of our students, families, and the school. Together, they organise a wide variety of activities to help our families: make friends, receive valuable support, understand Chinese culture, celebrate the incredible diversity of our school, and raise funds for school and local charities. For families new to our school and Shanghai, POP is a fantastic resource for help getting settled in. Our POP teams host several events for our families, such as luncheons and outings, classes, seminars, and workshops throughout the year. For more information about getting involved in POP, please get in touch with the school office.
