The YCIS Science Fair
Gillian, Year 12, Gubei Campus For years, YCIS Gubei has been celebrating the wonders and beauty of science in an annual science extravaganza -- our Science Fair. This event accommodates children of all ages, in addition to students and teachers alike, allowing them to marvel at the beauty of flames, colour changes, luminescent fluids, explosions, and a wealth of other manifestations of science.
The Advantages of Learning Chinese at YCIS
Dania, Year 11, Century Park Campus 你好我叫乔丹妮! This is my third year at YCIS and I'm in CAL-S3 already.
Why I Like Learning Chinese
Nina, Year 6, Century Park Campus I am currently learning Chinese as an Additional Language (CAL) student and I think that learning Chinese at YCIS is fun and easy. Learning Chinese is not easy at first sometimes for people because Chinese is a very different language from English, but when you get the hang of it, it’s like riding a bike.
Nurturing My Passion for Music at School
Iisha, Year 10, Century Park Campus When I was a child, I had a fond interest in anything and everything related to music. I remember my dad used to play songs on the speakers at home while he worked, and then he would stand up, take my hands, and we'd twirl around singing the songs as loud as we could – everything from Jethro Tull to the Beatles. As a piano student for more than seven years, as long as I could remember, music was the one thing that always gave me joy no matter what, but I didn't realise just how much of that pleasure I was still missing out on until I came to YCIS.
Setting My Own Stage at YCIS
Emily, Year 10, Century Park Campus Standing on a stage facing an audience of hundreds, all waiting, all expecting, with dozens of blinding lights focused on you as you stand alone, accompanied by nothing but trembling knees and a deafening pulse in your ears is quite an experience. One would ask why actors and actresses willingly put themselves through the inevitable process of stage fright, but the answer is simple: it’s the passion, the adrenaline, and the sheer thrill of transforming yourself into someone else for a matter of moments.
The Upcoming Sports Season at Century Park Campus
Matty, Year 9, Century Park Campus Well, after a successful Touch Rugby season, Century Park Campus is off to a yet another good start for the year. We look forward to numerous victories in all sport, and many students turning out to support our practices and matches.
My Experience in the Music Programme at YCIS
Melody, Year 12, Gubei Campus Owing to my experience in music training at YCIS, I have chosen the music Higher Level course in the IB Diploma Programme, which I enjoy greatly.
My Life at YCIS
Anita, Year 9, Century Park Campus Life at YCIS is a bit different from life at other international schools around the world. Most people who have attended schools abroad will tell you that people are “very close”, or, “it’s like a family.” I would like to tell you about what life is like in our international YCIS family.
New Beginnings in IB
Spencer, Year 12, Century Park Campus The prospect of an intensive two years in International Baccalaureate (IB) programme is exciting and a bit overwhelming for our group of Year 12 students. Feeling quite capable after our success in IGCSE, we're starting to realise what new roles we've been elevated to as student learners and community leaders.
