At YCIS Shanghai, our international Secondary programme enables all students to reach for and fulfil their highest academic potential in conjunction with their social, moral, cultural, physical, and creative development. The aim of our Secondary curriculum is to ensure that all students are provided with opportunities to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible global citizens, and caring contributors, preparing them for their futures.

Global Education at YCIS

YCIS Shanghai students are educated through a research-based international curriculum that merges the best of Eastern and Western knowledge and perspectives, and provides students with an authentic immersion into Chinese culture within an international school framework. This allows us to approach study projects from a global perspective, foster cultural respect, and develop fluency in two major world languages of the 21st century – English and Chinese.

We also place great value on students’ character development and provide them with a wide range of opportunities in the areas of art, music, sports, charity, and leadership. We pride ourselves on preparing our students to become adaptable enquirers and multilingual global citizens who are ready to take on positions of leadership within society.

Re-thinking and Re-imagining Schooling

YCIS Shanghai is re-thinking and re-imagining schooling in order to better provide for the students of the connected generation, so each student is well-equipped for the demands of study and work that await them. We are also changing the way in which teachers and students connect, share, and create.

We already have a proven track record of excellent educational results in both the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Moreover, our students go on to study at top universities across the world, including:

  • University of Oxford
  • University of Cambridge
  • University College London
  • Cornell University
  • Stanford University
  • University of Chicago
  • Rhode Island School of Design
  • Yonsei University
  • Seoul National University, and many more.

Central to our programme is a focus on helping ensure that every student is able to reach their full academic and co-curricular potential.
