    • YCIS Shanghai students on this year's World Classroom trip to the USA were in for a treat: they had the chance to visit sister school YCIS Silicon Valley.

The Shanghai students were warmly welcomed on Friday March 30, and the visit became part of their ten-day educational World Classroom tour of Northern California that included San Francisco, Yosemite, Silicon Valley and Monterrey.

Prior to the visit, YCIS Shanghai’s Secondary students sent postcards to their younger “buddies” to introduce themselves, and the Silicon Valley students in turn wrote their own postcards and replied with enthusiasm. The students got to know each other over a pizza lunch provided by parents. The students then shared presentations about their cities, answered questions about school life and visited the Silicon Valley lower Primary classrooms.

At the end of the visit, the entire school gathered in the central courtyard for a Friendship Tree planting ceremony. The new tangerine tree will serve as a reminder of this wonderful day and new friendships formed.
