    • As part of an ongoing, annual tradition, the network of Yew Chung International Schools (YCIS) come together in the form of a Gala Concert once a year to celebrate and support the school’s charity, Seeds of Hope, which was formed in 2008 in response to the devastating earthquake in Sichuan Province, China. This year’s concert will be held on March 22. The concert serves as a fundraiser that directly contributes to establishing a new Seeds of Hope school every year in a region in which YCIS has a school, and also provides a platform to highlight the talents of YCIS students from all campuses worldwide, including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Qingdao, Chongqing, and Silicon Valley (US). Following on the success of last year’s YCIS 80th Anniversary Seeds of Hope Gala Concert, held in Hong Kong, the honour of hosting this year’s concert has been bestowed upon YCIS Shanghai, and preparations are busily under way.

According to Ms Sally Davis, Head of Performing Arts at YCIS Shanghai Gubei Campus, “the concert will feature a wide range of performances, including The International Orchestra, which is comprised of the best players from all YCIS schools globally. There will also be performances by a Chinese dance group from YCIS Shanghai Hongqiao Campus, and songs by our Regency Park Campus’s Do-Rei-Mi Choir. Other performances will include the Gubei Campus Chamber Choir, joined by additional singers from YCIS schools, a rock band, and a piano soloist. We are also very excited to be featuring the Young Virtuosos, a group that is comprised of some of the top Primary student musicians from all YCIS schools, performing one special piece with the International Orchestra. Altogether, there will be more than 80 guest performers from all of the YCIS schools, which is a tremendous sign of the strength of our community.”

YCIS Shanghai looks forward to raising the curtains on what will surely be a memorable performance! For more information about the concert, or to reserve tickets, please call (86-21) 6219-5910 x 222.
