Third annual YCIS Charity Quiz Night, held this year, was another fun evening of dinner and trivia for parents, teachers, staff, and their guests. Mr Robert Watson, Primary Vice Principal at the Century Park and Regency Park campuses, was the Quiz Master for the evening, which had 21 tables of competitors vying for the ‘bragging rights’ and coveted trophy that were presented to the winning table, and trying their best not to take home the wooden spoons that were given to the table with the lowest score. All the teams showcased a breadth of knowledge, making for a tough and very fun competition. At the end of the evening, Mr Ian Lee, YCIS’s Secondary IGCSE Co-ordinator, led his team to victory.
In total, the evening raised 50,350 yuan for the WILL foundation, a sustainable and eco-friendly home for orphaned children. The funds raised during Quiz Night are approximately enough to provide food for the residents of WILL for half a year! Of special note, Mr Marten Tan, son of Ms Pilar Tan, who founded WILL, attended the Quiz Night himself to support the event.
Ms Lynn Xie, Chair of the Charity Fundraising Committee at YCIS, helped plan this year’s Quiz Night. She says “Thank you to all who contributed! That includes everyone who made a donation, those who bought tickets to Quiz Night, purchased raffle tickets sold by our Student Council members during Parent-Teacher Interviews, and who bid on the Silent Auction items during the event. Congratulations to everyone who competed and who helped in some way to make this our most successful Quiz Night yet!”
