    • As an international school in Shanghai, YCIS is a thriving hub for students and their families, with more than 50 nationalities represented. Each year, the school celebrates the diverse cultural heritage of its international community at the International Family Food Fair (IFFF) at the Hongqiao Campus. Planned by the Parent Organisation Puxi (POP), the 8th annual event was another fantastic day of food and entertainment for the entire community to enjoy.

Before the food booths officially opened, the fun day kicked off with a festive Japanese drum performance followed by a national flag parade. Members of the YCIS community gathered in formation and proudly paraded around the school’s courtyard waving flags from their home country as other members of the tight-knit community cheered along in support.

This year, families from nearly 20 different countries worked together to showcase their special national foods at booths all throughout the campus. The food, prepared primarily by the YCIS parents themselves, included a vast array of culinary delights from almost every corner of the world. From hotdogs to samosas, British cakes to Brazilian-style truffles, croissants to curry puffs, and much more, visitors had a veritable feast of options to satisfy their appetites. Additional booths with games and activities were available for children and their families to enjoy, including a bouncy castle, face painting, and even a doughnut eating contest.

Community events, like the IFFF, are among some of the most anticipated activities of the school year at YCIS, and are made possible by the incredible support of the talented and hardworking parent organisation. To learn more about parental involvement at the school, please click here.
