    • Families, friends, and faculty from Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS) enjoyed perfect weather at this year’s Back-to-School Carnival. The annual event, organised by the Parent Organisation of Puxi (POP), highlighted the diverse international community and culture of the school. Held at the Gubei Campus under blue skies, attendees enjoyed a fun-filled day of games, activities, and entertainment, not to mention an array of delicious food.

The crowd was entertained throughout the event with a variety of acts featured on the main stage, including a jazz band, an interactive performance by the Cub Scouts of America, and even a bagpiper! The hardworking members of POP also organised an abundance of games and activities for children to enjoy, ably supported by Secondary student volunteers. The carnival-style activities were a hit with the younger guests, and included a bouncy obstacle course, face painting, foosball, skateboarding, and more.

Picnic tables were arranged for families to sit as they enjoyed food from all around the world. Vietnamese, Mexican, Barbecue, and even homemade treats at a bake sale organised by the Cub Scouts were available throughout the day.

Parents were able to peruse offerings from a variety of international vendors ranging from food to fitness, health, technology, and more. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in a “lucky draw” and win one of the many fantastic prizes available, including international airline tickets and an iPad Mini.

Thanks to the hardworking members of POP, and the support of Secondary students and staff at the Gubei Campus, the Back-to-School Carnival was a wonderful day out for the whole family. For more information about ways the parents in our community are involved at the school, please see here.
