    • A cohort of enthusiastic students from YCIS Shanghai Pudong recently participated in the prestigious World Scholar's Cup Shanghai Regional Round, showcasing their academic prowess across a variety of events including Collaborative Writing, the Scholar's Bowl, Scholar's Challenge, and Debate. The competition, known for its rigorous intellectual challenges and vibrant community spirit, was a resounding success for the YCIS teams, as all qualified for the global round with many students receiving distinctions in their respective categories.

The regional round, held in December 2023, was not only a test of knowledge but also an opportunity for camaraderie and fun. Daphne, a Year 12 student, reflects on the experience: "It was incredibly enjoyable to meet so many people from different schools. We all came away with trophies and medals, and I learned the importance of teamwork in achieving great results without the need to over-study when you work effectively as a group."

In the Junior Division, the Team Debate gold was awarded to David, James G, and James X, who ranked 7th. The Senior Division debates were equally fruitful, with Junkai, Leo, and Tiffany taking home a gold for 7th place, and Daphne's team adding a silver to their collection.

Individual accolades were numerous, with students from both junior and senior divisions achieving gold and silver in Debate Champions, Writing Champions, and Challenge Medals categories. Luis demonstrated exceptional versatility, securing four silvers across subjects, while Daphne earned a mix of double gold and silver.

The FakeSenior Scholars and School Top Scholars categories saw Luis and Daphne both triumph with gold, while Champion Scholars had James G and Daphne placing impressively in the top ten.

Looking ahead, the YCIS Pudong teams are now gearing up for the global round. With the Senior Division team of Daphne, Oscar, and Sungwoo placing 4th overall, and their classmates Arjun, Luis, and William securing gold, the stage is set for an inspiring international showing.

The success of the YCIS Pudong students is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the supportive environment fostered by the school. It serves as a beacon of academic excellence and a reminder of the limitless potential of young scholars when they come together in the spirit of knowledge and understanding.
