If you see parents busy in the corridors or at events on campuses, they're likely members of the Parent Organisation of Puxi/Pudong (POP).
Though from diverse cultural backgrounds, they're united by a shared commitment to their children's education and the school community.
POP's work often happens behind the scenes. From major school events to small events like the Family Dance and community gatherings, their support is key to every successful activity. Through volunteering, parents connect and appreciate each other's efforts. As Puxi POP member Xu Hui says, "We make things happen." Having grown from volunteer to core member, she's witnessed POP's development while instilling in her child the values of service and responsibility. To members, POP plays different roles. For Puxi's Annie, it's a "bridge" between home and school.
Puxi POP Chair Timothy sees himself as a "messenger," facilitating communication. This makes the YCIS community feel particularly united.
Echo, Co-chair of Pudong POP, describes YCIS Shanghai's education as a tree — rooted in Chinese culture while reaching globally. This cultural grounding combined with international perspective attracted her to the school.
Ning, another Pudong POP Chair, notes, "YCIS Shanghai is a truly international community where children understand both East and West."
When describing POP, Ning and Echo highlight Care, Reliability, Responsibility and Teamwork —qualities that reflect both the organisation and the wider school community.
At YCIS Shanghai, education extends beyond the classroom—it continues in the warm moments POP creates, touching every family and every growing child.
