Battle of the Bands has been a tradition at Gubei Campus for over 10 years. Not only is it competitive, it’s also fun! Battle of the Bands allows you to get to know new people and make new connections between yourself, the people around you, and the music.

The event is highly supported by the Music Department. Once a band signs up to perform, they can reserve rooms in the Music Department to practise. The participants range in age from 11 to 18 years old. Not only do the bands vary in age, but so does the audience. Every year, more than 10 bands sign up to participate, and every year, the competition gets more and more intense.

From the beginning of the school year, many students get excited about Battle of the Bands. Nearly all of the student body either participates or watches the battle. Personally, I have watched three years’ worth of my friends and classmates in bands performing, and I have enjoyed myself every single year!

All in all, Battle of the Bands is one of the many fun and interesting activities that YCIS has to offer. Not only does it encourage students with musical talent to come out of their shells and perform on stage, but it also allows students to experience what it is like to be in a band. It is guaranteed that everyone will have fun whether they are performing on stage or cheering and dancing in the audience!
