We have a wonderful school counsellor at YCIS called Ms Marion Rogge. Time spent with her in her office is warmly referred to as “Times of Refreshing”.

Her office is very cosy, and makes you feel relaxed, and it feels like your own home. She loves to decorate and has a giant retro-looking clock on the wall, plants all around her office, and a lovely bronze traditional teapot. She also likes to paint and make handicrafts, some of which sit by her office window.

She has created a “Friendship Group” in our school, which is a group of students who want to make new friends. She has also shared many meaningful quotes about how to be a good friend. Here are my favourites:

“There are big ships and small ships. But the best ship of all is friendship.”

“A friend is one of the nicest things you can have, and one best thing you can be.”

“Friendship isn’t a big thing, it’s a million small things.”

It’s a very special thing to have such a caring school counsellor.
