If there was one thing I would tell any new student at YCIS, I would tell them to get involved in as many sports and activities at school as possible. Generally, sports have always been my favourite activity at YCIS. Personally, I love sports; it’s just one of the ways to relieve some stress from my busy life, and being involved in sports has shaped and formed me into the person I am today. When I have to wake up at 6 in the morning for early practices, it’s all worth it when you later make the winning goal, basket, or just cross the finish line! I think that most sports enthusiasts like myself would agree that it is fun and exciting!

As the touch rugby season ends, the football season commences: tryout sheets are posted, and practices are scheduled. I love to play football for the obvious reasons: to stay in shape, compete, and have a good time. But it’s much more than that. Football also teaches you things about yourself--physically, mentally, and emotionally. You learn how to work cohesively with others, push yourself to what you thought was the limit, and then even further! Team bonds formed amongst teammates are indescribable.

I’m looking forward to the upcoming soccer practices and games. But most importantly--the many fantastic memories that I will make.
