    Battle of the Bands

    • Students at YCIS Shanghai Gubei Campus were rocking around the clock during the annual Battle of the Bands. Not only were there vocals, drums, guitars, keyboard, and even a violin, performed entirely by students, this year's event also featured an entirely student-controlled sound system with Year 10 student Basile at the mixing desk.

Performances were accompanied by smoke machines and flashing laser lights. Each band contributed with their own style: some with dancing, others with classic rock star moves, and everyone had creative costumes. The decision before the judges was not an easy one, and tensions were as tight as a guitar string. After much discussion, the winning band was Colliding Waves, with members Isabelle, Hector, Emily, Dominic, and Patrick. This band has an impressive history for a young group, having performed in the past two years’ Battle of the Bands before winning this year’s show.

Following such a high-energy performance, everyone in the audience would agree that the feeling they took home with them after the show was electric!
