    • On March 23, 2013, YCIS Shanghai Gubei Campus hosted the award ceremony for the 2012/2013 LittleStar-YCIS Short Story Competition. The schools' motto, which includes aligning with culture and arts, provides that YCIS would be a natural sponsor for an event that encouraged students to express themselves through creative writing. This year, over 300 students took the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and writing skills in this China-wide competition.

The students' original stories showed great imagination and skilled writing, focused on the theme: "2012." With such a broad topic, the variety of the entries was quite unique.

YCIS Shanghai students who earned awards for their work were: Annie Ming, Year 4, second prize for “Annie’s Adventure”; Joyce, Year 4, third prize for “2012 Amazing Reef Walk Adventure”; Owen, Year 3, special mention for “The Elephant and the Banana Peel”; Oi In, Year 6, first prize for “Remembered, Mourned, Honored”; and in Year 12, both Gabrielle and Fay received a special mention for their pieces “Year After Year” and “Sofia.” The collected submissions were published in an anthology that was provided to each contestant.

After the awards celebration, the afternoon continued with an engaging and informative workshop by publisher Graham Earnshaw on “How to get Published!”

YCIS would like to congratulate all of the student authors on their participation in this exciting competition.
