    • During the month of May, the YCIS Gubei Secondary Library held a book drive for the “Seeds of Hope school” in Qufu. With the help of the Parent Organisation Puxi (POP), and generous donors within the YCIS community, enough funds were raised to provide 10 small collections of Chinese picture books, and book shelves, for each of the Kindergarten through Year 2 classrooms. In total, 10 classrooms received new libraries. The YCIS team assembled each of the bookshelves and sorted the shipment of books during a trip to the Qufu school in May. The Qufu Primary students were grateful for receiving their own collection of books, as they previously did not have picture books available for their enjoyment at any other space in the school. The students were excited each time the YCIS team read to them, and the Kindergarteners were especially fascinated with the books brought by the team. This project will likely be carried on into the next school year, and beyond, until each classroom has its very own library to enjoy.
