Rain or shine, YCIS’s annual Mid-Autumn Moon Festival brings families and staff together to celebrate this special Chinese cultural holiday. This year’s festival held on Saturday, September 21 reunited current and alumni families as they enjoyed activity stations organized by YCIS teachers.
Children filled up their passports of fun as they visited stations ranging from the educational (Oreo cookie phases of the moon), to the creative (Chinese calligraphy, origami, making moon cakes), to fun games (ping pong ‘moon’ toss and bingo). Children also enjoyed getting their faces painted and going home with balloon animals. After filling up their passports with stamps at each of the stations, children were rewarded with a traditional tea egg – YUM! Families also had the opportunity to support the YCIS 5th grade class as they sold lemonade to raise funds for their class trip to Beijing in the spring. Though the rain started to fall towards the end of the festival, spirits were not dampened. Everyone enjoyed a fun morning out and went home with a smile.
