Recently, Primary students from Hongqiao Campus performed the musical Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies. Based on the original tale of Robin Hood, the fun and fantastical musical comedy included familiar characters, such as Robin and his Merry Men, Maid Marion, and the Sheriff of Nottingham, but this performance featured a new and refreshing story line.
A talented and hardworking group of Years 5 and 6 students had been planning for and rehearsing the musical since September through the school’s Co-Curricular Programme. Their hard work paid off in the form of very successful performances, and the students’ skills in acting, singing, and dancing impressed their families, friends, and faculty who attended the matinee shows, as well as the Thursday and Friday evening performances. At every show the student performers received enthusiastic applause from all guests!
Co-curricular activities, including drama, sports, art, and music, are part of the holistic programme at YCIS, and help students build a wide range of skills and interests. To learn more about Co-curricular activities at YCIS Shanghai, please click here.
