This week, new students and their families received a very warm welcome on campus from the YCIS community at the annual New Families Welcome Barbecue Events prior to the first day of the school year. At the Century Park Campus, the school’s leadership team and faculty welcomed incoming families whose children will study at the school’s Regency Park and Century Park Campuses. For the new students at the Hongqiao and Gubei Campuses, the Hongqiao Campus hosted the fun, evening event.

In addition to enjoying the wide range of delicious food at both events, guests were able to spend time with the school’s enthusiastic staff, and to get to know other new families. In addition, there were a variety of interactive games and activities for children, including sports, bouncy castles, art projects, face painting, and LEGO robotics.

The annual Welcome BBQs are just the start of a number of activities and events that YCIS Shanghai hosts to welcome new students and their parents and help them settle into the school and greater community. Other activities include orientation sessions, the Parent Welcome Teas, curriculum introduction evenings, and whole school community events such as carnivals and bazaars. Many of these events are planned by the Parent Organisations of Puxi and Pudong (POP), which provide a community and support network for all families at YCIS.
