The recent Science Fair at the YCIS Gubei Campus was an exciting evening of hands-on demonstrations and interactive experiments, designed to inspire students with the mysteries and marvels of science. This year, the fair was planned by the Year 12 IB Science students, providing the high schoolers with an opportunity to demonstrate what they are learning within their science classrooms to their families, younger classmates, and the greater YCIS community.
With assistance from their Science teachers and younger Secondary peers, the Year 12 students designed fascinating experiments to showcase their scientific knowledge in chemistry, physics, and biology. From bubbling beakers and controlled explosions and flames to the wonders of organic chemistry, the immersive experiments and demonstrations truly wowed those in attendance. In addition, the Secondary students also explained the science behind the experiments to the attendees, and took questions from their inquisitive younger classmates and families about everything from chemical reactions to centrifugal force.
All of the students in Years 12-13 participate in the IB Diploma Programme at YCIS Shanghai, and events like the annual Science Fair help to further develop students into leaders and global-thinking citizens. To learn more about IB at the international school in Shanghai, please click here.
