    • More than 500 people recently participated in a student-initiated “fun run” at YCIS’s Regency Park Campus to raise money for cancer research. Led primarily by two Year 12 students, Sam and Alessandro, from the school’s Century Park Campus, the second annual “Make a Difference (MAD) Run” brought together students of all ages, along with their families and friends, to run, walk, rollerblade, bike, skateboard, and more as they traveled along the 5-kilometer route around the neighborhood surrounding the school’s campus in Pudong.

After the race, the runners were able to wind down and enjoy the great weather as they took part in a number of activities on campus. In addition to live music, they could participate in activities at various booths, enter a raffle, and satisfy their appetites with dining options from a host of food vendors. Each participant also received a MAD Run t-shirt -- a great collectable to remember the fun and meaningful day. In total, the Secondary students raised over RMB 40,000 yuan for charity, which will be donated to the Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Center in Pudong (managed by Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center).

Charity initiatives are a large part of the school culture at YCIS Shanghai, and are often initiated by the students themselves. To learn more about other charity projects at the school, please click here.
