    • Yew Chung International School of Shanghai’s (YCIS) Parent Organisation Pudong (POP) recently helped raise an astonishing RMB 510,300 yuan to benefit two charities in Shanghai at their annual Charity Gala.

The theme of the evening was “The Silk Road”, and attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner, drinks, entertainment, silent and live auctions, and fantastic raffle prizes, all for a good cause, and the incredible generosity of the community will help many families in need. In total, the funds raised will benefit 37 children from the Chunhui Children’s Foundation and will fund 10 life-changing heart surgeries for the Heart to Heart organisation. Following the event, representatives from the charities expressed their gratitude to the YCIS community:

“Because of YCIS’s contribution, 37 children's lives will forever be changed. These children will get to develop to their full potential for increased chance for adoption, learning to live independently, and cultivating self-esteem and characteristics to build their own dreams.” - Ms Cindy S. Lin, CEO, Chunhui Children’s Foundation

“There is no way that Heart to Heart or the children who will be helped by this donation will ever be able to thank you enough! The surgeries the community has helped to provide should enable years of life and happiness for the 10 children and their families. To say they will remember the generosity and kindness forever is an understatement.” – Ms Karen Carrington, Executive Director, Heart to Heart

The annual Charity Gala is just one of the many events the YCIS POP organization plans throughout the year for the members in the school community to enjoy. To learn more about the other ways YCIS parents are active in the school, please click here.
