    • YCIS’s Gubei Campus has had an amazing year in competitive sports with a total of 11 trophies and one sportsmanship award won at tournaments in Touch Rugby, Volleyball, Football, and Table Tennis. Recently, the YCIS Physical Education (PE) and Athletics Department hosted the 2016 Annual Sports Awards evening for all students in Upper Secondary who have participated in sports during the school year. Over 80 students and staff attended the dinner ceremony to celebrate the successful year in athletics for the international school in Shanghai.

During the ceremony, many students and teams were recognised for their victories this year. Individual awards were also given to students for outstanding achievement, including:

      • Most improved performer: Vladislav, Year 12
      • Best individual performance: Kevin, Year 10
      • Junior sportsman: Paul, Year 11
      • Junior sportswoman: Yulia, Year 10
      • Senior sportsman: Marc, Year 12
      • Senior sportswoman: Millie, Year 12

This year, the students created entertaining, well-edited videos to show at the awards reception which was a great success and added a nice touch to the event. The evening also celebrated and thanked the departing senior students for their contribution to the school’s athletics programme over the years. At the end of the evening, students were given an opportunity to thank their coaches for their dedication in fostering student success and development both on and off the sports fields, courts, and arenas.

At YCIS, students have an abundance of opportunities to join a large selection of sports teams through the extracurricular programmes offered at the school. To learn more about the diverse athletic offerings at YCIS Shanghai, please click here.
