    RESULTS: YCIS Students Once Again Honoured as Top In World

    • In keeping with Yew Chung International School of Shanghai’s(YCIS Shanghai) fine tradition of academic excellence, last year’s IGCSE examination students showed the fruits of their labour by receiving the greatest number of awards in all of mainland China across a range of fields of study out of any independently registered international schools.


      The Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) body awarded more “Cambridge Outstanding Learners Awards” to more YCIS Shanghai students than any other independently registered International School in all of China. Six of our young academicians received eight awards in the categories of “Top in World”, “Top in China”, and “High Achievement”, as follows:

      • Top in World for Foreign Language Mandarin - Chester
      • Top in World for Foreign Language Mandarin - Kenneth
      • Top in China for First Language English - Anna
      • Top in China for Design and Technology - Vivian
      • Top in China for Coordinated Sciences (Double Award) - Shuqin
      • Top in China for World Literature - Anna
      • High Achievement for Foreign Language Italian - Lorenzo

      Yew Chung International School of Shanghai was additionally given the prestigious honour of being invited to present awards to the students, with the invitation stating:


      “Yew Chung International School of Shanghai is the first school that established the Cambridge International programmes in mainland China; your presence will be of great significance to the award ceremony of this year, which marks the 15 years anniversary of Cambridge International Examinations in mainland China. We would like to invite you as a representative from the school to present the awards to the winners.  It would be a great honour for the learners to receive the awards from you.” 


      During the ceremony, presenters included YCIS Shanghai Co-Principal,Dr. Richard Swann, as well as representatives from Cambridge International Examinations,including Regional Director of East Asia, Eric Ding, and Tony Clemson, the British Consulate Deputy Consul General. These distinguished representatives honoured the students for their hard work and exam success.For each category, the students were welcomed on stage to be recognised and receive a medal and certificate, and to shake hands with the award presenters.
