    • Recently, 16 YCIS students competed in the Shanghai HighFour Maths and Science Contest. HighFour Competitions™ organises tournaments for international school students from a number of grade levels to participate in competitions within various subjects. During the competitions, students form into teams of four and answer 20 questions in the given 30 minutes.

At the most recent competition, YCIS students progressed through six diverse rounds of activities in several formats (individual, team-based, and one that mixed the students from participating schools). Extraordinary results were achieved by our students, with five of our Year 9s competing at the Year 10 level and our Year 7 team being the youngest group at the entire event.

Not only were tremendous individual and team maths results scored, four individual medals for Science were also won:

      • Lynelle, Year 8: 1st place for the Year 7 – 9 Bracket
      • Yuxuan, Year 8: 2nd place for Year 7 – 9 Bracket
      • Marina, Year 8: 3rd place for the Year 7 – 9 Bracket
      • Hayley, Year 9: 4th place for the Year 10 – 11 Bracket (quite noteworthy because she placed above her year level)

Strong performance in academic competitions is a regular occurrence for YCIS students, and the notable academic programmes at YCIS produce students who are able to compete above their year levels.
