    • Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS) is delighted to announce the addition of a beautiful new campus this school year. Located in close proximity to the school’s Hongqiao and Gubei campuses in Puxi, the new YCIS Ronghua Campus will open for Early Childhood and Year 1 – 2 students in February 2018. The purpose-built campus has been designed by the award-winning architectural firm, Fielding Nair International (FNI), the global leader in educational facilities planning and architectural design.

The new campus features FNI’s innovative “Learning Community” configuration, with modifiable classrooms and multi-site teaching spaces, creating agile, learner-centred environments and fostering the enquiry-based learning environment in Early Childhood Education for which YCIS Shanghai is known. Each classroom has walls which are movable in order to allow educators to have the flexibility of adjusting the size of their learning space, as well as the ability to create an open-air classroom by connecting with large, adjacent communal learning spaces.

The Ronghua Campus Early Childhood development center will feature the latest technology in central air purification, large indoor and outdoor play areas with ergonomic, challenging play structures, music and art rooms, a library with a collection of English and Chinese books, a competition training swimming pool, and floor heating on the first and second levels.

The lower ground floor will be accessed by a separate entrance by Gubei Campus Secondary Students who will have access to the swimming pool and a large, fully-equipped fitness centre.

Early Childhood (K2 – K4) children and Lower Primary (Year 1 -2) students will transition to the campus in February 2018, and the Lower Primary students will remain at the Ronghua Campus until August 2019 while the Hongqiao Campus conducts a complete renovation on its “A Building”. The new A Building, for Upper Primary students, will also feature FNI’s Learning Community design, allowing for Year 1 to 6 students to complete their journey in Primary education in a state-of-the art setting for learning.

At YCIS Shanghai, the strategic focus on creating innovative learning spaces to support 21st-century education at both the new Ronghua Campus and the A Building project at Hongqiao Campus will set the stage for children to become lifelong learners with the skills to succeed in the increasingly fast-changing future.
