The Christmas holidays are upon us and as students, their families, and teachers prepare to travel home or on vacation to awe-inspiring locations all over the world, it is the perfect time to look back at the final community event at YCIS Shanghai in 2019. Last weekend, it was the turn of YCIS Puxi school community to ring in the festive season. Just like the celebrations at YCIS Pudong a few weeks ago, the YCIS Puxi festivities were a wonderful way for the whole school community to come together and celebrate this special time of year.
The YCIS Puxi ‘Music & Art Mosaic’ combined Christmas celebrations with a showcase of the music, performance, and artistic talents of the YCIS Puxi student body. This year’s theme was ‘Seasons of Love’ and there was an abundance of performances, activities, entertainment, and food options to keep attendees merry for the entirety of the evening.
YCIS Puxi Primary’s fabulous new A-Building was the perfect location for the event, hosting music and dance performances on its different floors, including Junior Ensemble, Primary Orchestra, Senior Choir, Ballet, Ballroom, and Hip Hop Dance; photography and art exhibitions; an indoor Christmas market with booths selling gifts and crafts perfect for giving at this time of year; a Santa photo booth; activities and games; and a wide selection of delectable treats from local food vendors. Of course, a festive event wouldn’t be complete without the Christmas tree lighting, which took place just outside the new school building. As Christmas is the time for giving, there was also an area under the tree for charitable donations to the Heart to Heart Toy Drive.
It is always heartening to see the strong bonds shared between the members of the YCIS Shanghai communities both sides of the river, and as the decade draws to a close and well-deserved breaks are taken, everyone at the school is already looking forward to many more school social events in 2020.
