    • Recently, YCIS Shanghai students participated in two MUN events, where they engaged in discussions with students from international schools worldwide on pressing global issues such as Middle Eastern security, the refugee crisis, and the management of sustainable global resources.

MUN is more than just an opportunity to learn about global challenges—it is a valuable platform to develop public speaking, negotiation, and collaboration skills. As young “diplomats,” our students not only worked independently to draft documents and resolutions but also worked closely with their fellow delegates to achieve common goals.

The dedication and hard work of our students were evident throughout the conference, and their strong preparation played a crucial role. According to Mr  Hussain, the YCIS Shanghai Pudong MUN coordinator, some delegates actively sought guidance before the conference, preparing extensively not only by researching the issues at hand but also by analyzing the perspectives of other countries and strategizing possible responses. This dedication was evident in their performance during the debates.

Another noteworthy aspect for the Puxi students was the wonderful mix of experienced and new MUN participants in their CCA club. Year 13 Augustine expertly chaired a committee on the peaceful use of outer space.

Alongside seasoned delegates like Regina and Nicholas, he was eager to share his expertise with newer participants. First-time delegates, such as Year 7’s Riley and Oscar, approached the experience with excitement and curiosity, and we look forward to seeing them continue their MUN journey in the future.

To confidently express their viewpoints during the conferences, each student prepared extensively. They carefully read the chair reports and conducted independent research to ensure they could articulate their positions with clarity and evidence.

Through these experiences, YCIS students not only honed their academic skills but also developed a strong sense of global citizenship and leadership. We look forward to seeing them continue to shine in future MUN conferences!
