The International Baccalaureate; a fiery beast known for its challenging quests of ‘diploma-hood’. Those who dare fight and attempt to conquer its challenges are regarded as legends, superheroes, other-worldly… also known as me, Elisa (kidding!).

In actuality, any IB student will tell you that the two-year program are the absolute toughest of your life. The sleepless nights, the infinite cups of steaming coffee, the essays, the tests, examinations; oh the horrors! Yet, no ex-IB student can deny the fact that the programme also brings out the best within. Among the essays, exams and classes, we discover our passions, dreams, and goals. We become better at organizing time, managing work loads, communicating with members of the community, and taking responsibility for our hard earned achievements. We become true citizens of the globe, with the ability to tackle any problem from all angles.

Personally, the most exciting part of the IB programme is the knowledge that once it’s completed, I’ll be experiencing the sweet taste of freedom. Picture this: the second I finish my last exam in the air-conditioned testing room, I’ll saunter down the hallway knowing that I am a free agent! No more exams! No more classes! No more essays, notes or flashcards! Not to mention, I have the power to smugly claim that ‘yes, I did the IB’ and ‘yes, I survived’; instantly becoming revered among the college society.
