Following the aftermath of the Sichuan earthquake, rebuilding schools in the affected area has become a top priority for the Yew Chung International School (YCIS) community. We have initiated fundraising activities one after another in unity and in earnest. After two years of effort, we have collected proceeds amounting to HK$1.5 million. Finally, we have rebuilt a primary school, Minzhu Primary School, at Anyue, Sichuan with the help of World Vision.
In the spring this year, a teaching block of the school, built with the fund raised by YCIS, was completed for use. In March, representatives of YCIS visited the school.
Now that the school is rebuilt, Yew Chung teachers and students will have the opportunities to carry out community services and cultural exchange activities in the Sichuan school.
